Experience, integrity, hard work
Sophie Kiwala has served as MPP for Kingston and the Islands since 2014. Her previous seven years of experience (with MP Peter Milliken, eventually becoming Chief of Staff for MP Ted Hsu) was the ideal apprenticeship for a future MPP. It enabled her to hit the ground running, with a deep understanding of how government works, how best to get things done on behalf of her community, and how to most effectively help constituents who fall through the cracks of government programs.
Sophie was born and raised in Kingston, lived abroad, then worked in Toronto for seventeen years in retail management and as an entrepreneur. Upon returning to Kingston, she worked in residential and commercial renovation, interior design, and rental property management prior to joining Mr. Milliken’s office.
Sophie is well-known and respected as a tireless champion for Kingston and the Islands and an MPP who achieves results. She has deep roots in community volunteering and that has left her with a profound respect for the residents she serves. They inspire her to be a passionate and effective representative voice at Queen’s Park.
