Thank you, Sophie for your common-sense approach in advocating services for seniors. Your support for the Oasis program that augments, but does not duplicate, home care for groups of seniors living in an apartment building resulted in formal recognition and startup funding for similar programs across the province. As a senior, I know this will forever enhance the lives of seniors, prevent early admission to long term care, and save health care dollars. A WIN,WIN!
— Christine McMillan, Founder and Past President, Oasis Senior Supportive
I have known Sophie for years and have the utmost respect for her as a person and as a public figure.
I have seen that Sophie has an incredible ability to listen, to act and to get things done.
I have felt her deep commitment to improving the lives of people in her community and across the province.
That is why I believe Sophie is the kind of leader we need – she has a good heart, a strong mind, a fierce determination and the courage to do what needs to be done.

After Sophie attended a FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) Parent Action Group meeting and listened to parents from across southeastern Ontario, she promised to “do something”. Within a few months Sophie introduced
a motion in the Legislature and proposed a Private Members Bill for changes in the education system to improve the lives of those living with FASD.
I have never witnessed such compassion, personal commitment and concrete action by a politician. Sophie garnered support from all political parties with her ability to bring others together to make positive changes. She is a true champion for families in Kingston and across Ontario.
